TEXAS HOA REFORM: LEGISLATION SUGGESTIONS

I support the efforts of the Texas Reform Coalitions in fighting for resident rights. I received this message from them today:

Dear Texas Homeowner,
The 87th Texas Legislative Session begins in January 2021.  The HOA Reform Coalition of Texas is in the process of proposing new legislation.  As part of this process, we need real examples of how HOA/POA/COA have treated property owners. If you are willing to share your experiences in response to the questions below, please reply to this email or send an email to txhoareform@gmail.com
1.  Have you been harassed by your HOA/Management Company/HOA Attorney with terrible and/or unreasonable demands within the last few years that you are willing briefly to describe?
2. If you have a demand letter from the HOA/Management Company/HOA Attorney, and if you are willing to share, please attach it.
Please let us know so that we can present the problems homeowners endure to the legislators

  1. Our builder took almost two years and we went thru mediation as could not walk into our home or garage with out wading water, they put in some drain pipes but still did not take care of problem… we had to add a retaining bed in front yards and dry River bed behind and a slab at front of home to enable us to get in home!
Just this last Sat we received a letter, actually 2 stating being fined for a sand pile and flower bed in front yard and our garnss as he can on side of home ! This is first time we hear of an HOA? We have not be notified of any meetings, voting on any neighbors nor have the neighbors I have talked to. We are out of city limits and have no park or splash pad that the builder said we would have and no sidewalks or green space! Houses are all on 50’ wide lots with very bad drainage.
This is Highway robbery! How can we petition to do away with HOA?
