{"id":1156,"date":"2018-10-28T09:28:17","date_gmt":"2018-10-28T14:28:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hoa-poa.com\/hlerg\/?p=1156"},"modified":"2018-10-30T16:58:17","modified_gmt":"2018-10-30T21:58:17","slug":"harvey-homeowner-assistance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hoa-poa.com\/hlerg\/harvey-homeowner-assistance\/","title":{"rendered":"HARVEY HOMEOWNER ASSISTANCE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On October 26, I attended a meeting in Coldspring for the GLO (<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.glo.texas.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Texas General Land Office<\/a><\/strong> )\u00a0 about their CDBG-R program (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.glo.texas.gov\/recovery\/about\/about-cdr\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Community Development &amp; Revitalization<\/strong><\/a>) in cooperation with HUD (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hud.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Housing and Urban Development<\/a><\/strong>)\u00a0 and DETCOG (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.detcog.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Deep East Texas Council of Governments<\/strong><\/a>). It was an information dispersing and gathering meeting, about their homeowner assistance programs, for those of us who are helping residents who got affected by Hurricane Harvey. The Deep East Texas Region has received $127,884,027.<sup>00<\/sup>, from GLO\/HUD for the following areas: Jasper, Newton, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, and Tyler Counties.<\/p>\n<p>I know that this has been a long process for many of you who lost so much during Harvey, and you may have thought that help had ended, but it has not. In fact, some help is just beginning to be &#8216;rolled out&#8217; over the next several months. The first step for any of this help will be to gather the documents you will need to start the application process, when applications are able to be submitted. Programs that may be available to residents, depending on their situation, include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assistance &#8211; repairs.\u00a0 This could include help with continued repairs or possibly paying for unreimbursed repairs not funded by insurance or FEMA. Repairs may include flood breakaways, septic, elevating, reinforced roof, storm shutters, mold &amp; mildew resistant products, &amp; accessibility,<\/li>\n<li>Buyouts &amp; Acquisitions.\u00a0 If you have to (or had to) relocate, you may be able to get financial help with this.<\/li>\n<li>Reimbursements.\u00a0 If you have receipts and had to do repairs through a loan program or out of pocket, you may be able to get financial help to reimburse these $$.<\/li>\n<li>Replacement.\u00a0 In some circumstances, the most viable &#8216;fix&#8217; is to replace the unit, on existing property or through a relocations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I asked questions that I knew were specific to certain individuals in our HLE neighborhood and the one answer that I got consistently is <strong>APPLY !<\/strong>\u00a0 Filling out an application does not cost a thing and they may be able to find funds to help you through this program or others.\u00a0 There may even be help for some of you who may not have deeded rights because of family deaths, etc..\u00a0 They just want to make sure that people are able to recover without going into financial hardships.<\/p>\n<p>Keep in mind, I am always here and I will do my best to help any of you go through this process or fill out the application.\u00a0 Please, don&#8217;t be afraid to ask for help.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1157\" src=\"https:\/\/hoa-poa.com\/hlerg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/application-checklist-821x1024.png\" alt=\"Harvey Assistance Application Checklist\" width=\"821\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hoa-poa.com\/hlerg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/application-checklist-821x1024.png 821w, https:\/\/hoa-poa.com\/hlerg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/application-checklist-240x300.png 240w, https:\/\/hoa-poa.com\/hlerg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/application-checklist-768x958.png 768w, https:\/\/hoa-poa.com\/hlerg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/application-checklist.png 879w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 821px) 100vw, 821px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Texas General Land Office is starting to roll out some assistance programs for residents and communities affected by Hurricane Harvey.
